Re: which comic books do you recommend?
Bah! It could be the worst comic you've ever read! Do a little research first! Though...
It is a remarkable book, there really is no downside in the comic, the grisly and intense scenes of Bruce starting his crime fighting career has such an impact on the reading it's a hard book to put down. But Bruce isnt the only one starting in Gotham, James Gordon is also starting his life there as well, you follow him on his adventure as he tries to crack the Batman Case with his partner, Sargent Essen. Things go downhill faster and faster. Commitment. Justice. Corruption. Hope.
It is considered amongst most comic book readers the Number One Baman graphic novel.

How is that a downside, that's actually more encouraging to get the book.

Also, say Infinate Crisis. Good book and has my favorite scene with Joker in it ever.
"You didn't let the Joker play"
*BAM!*
"AHAHHAHAHAHAH!!!"

I only have Batman graphic novels, I can tell you which ones are good though. Final Crisis is so confusing. I don't even want to read it anymore...

I still wanna read Final Crisis cause I have only part of it but not the ending were Bat.... Should not finish that sentence for those who have not read it.
Off the subject of Batman, The Walking Dead comic series is just awesome.

The Walking Dead's about zombies. I think. I just watch its show commercials on TV. o_o
If you wanna get start reading comics, you really REALLY have to do a LOT of researches. Take it from me. I've been two years being in this comics/animation/forum business yet I still can't get myself to easily understand what's going on in comics.
So yeah, do a LOT of researches. I mean that.

Re: which comic books do you recommend?

Re: which comic books do you recommend?
Astonishing X-Men is an absolutely remarkable series. I mean when Astonishing X-Men first came out. Now the Astonishing series went down hill and because of the success of the original Astonish X-Men everything has to have "Astonishing" in front of it.
Spoilers
Final Crisis is critically acclaimed as a masterpiece but trust me: you need background knowledge of EVERYTHING prior to it in order to comprehend what the he'll anyone is talking about. It's confusing as hell and I can only pick up on very few details. The only thing you gotta know where Karmy couldn't say is that Batman "died" ... The only reason I bring that up is because Batman and Robin: Batman Reborn is so good you only need to know that Bruce Wayne is out of the picture (for now) and Dick Grayson took his place with Bruce's biological son Damian Wayne.
If you do want to start with Batman: Year One chances are youre going to want to keep reading so I advise you to pick up four or five other books:
The Man who Laughs (Also comes with Made of Wood, Two stories in one!)
The Long Halloween
Haunted Knight (optional)
Dark Victory
Robin: Year One

Re: which comic books do you recommend?
But yeah Marvel graphic novels are all like Final Crisis and thy do that every month, but the latest Thor Graphic novel that comes out next month is a MUST buy.
The new Thor is basically like Thor: Year One, but it has a modern twist to it. His brother, Loki, is involved with modern and contemporary media. But otherwise, it's an origin story so it's easy for everyone to understand.

Well, Dick is straightening him up. In Vol. 2 he defends Dick but that's only about as far as he goes.ShamarDJ wrote:Mercy wrote:Yeah, no problem. The new Robin is a little butt pimple....

Re: which comic books do you recommend?
Hooh, I didn't know you read Marvel, Mercy. O_o
If you're interested in reading DC, you should probably read the issues related to Crisis. Like Crisis on Infinite Earths, Identity Crisis, Infinite Crisis, Final Crisis, and the mini series revolving around that.
